Greetings randy,
Thank you for having a look at the first Leadership Chronicles of 2009. Despite the doom and gloom of the economic environment we are optimistic about the future as times like these are always a great source for new opportunities. Although budgets are tight we have seen several of our clients and even some new ones continue to invest in helping their teams achieve critical objectives and we're proud to be a part of it.
Enjoy the newsletter, we hope you find value in it.
All the best,
Randy Sabourin & Cam Anderson

Rinse and Repeat - ROI Research
|
There is always a discussion around Return on Investment (ROI) when it comes to Sales Training or Leadership Workshops. After a workshop our advice to our clients is to review the content at team meetings. The best way to increase the ROI on training is to apply attention
and focus to the key learning points over time. This is one of the principles of NeuroLeadership and the subject of several articles that discuss the ROI of training. Unfortunately it seems that some organizations are feeling the effect of market conditions on training budgets, but the data clearly points to a great ROI for training particularly in tough times. Here are some resources for further information...
Neuroleadership on the Business Improvisation Blog - Rinse & Repeat - Training ROI.
The seminal research on training and coaching ROI by Gerald Olivero; K Denise Bane; Richard E Kopelman - Executive Coaching as a Transfer of Training Tool.
The ROI for Coaching - great research from the Center for Creative Leadership.
And finally, an article from Garry Platt - The hard facts aboutsoft skills measurement.
ASCI has added FA Zaps (focus/attention)
as a one hour webinar-based refresher session a month or so after a workshop. |
Succession Planning
This article is from our very own Cam Anderson. Cam often contributes articles and speeches for the Insurance Industry. This article tackles the subject of succession planning. Succession Planning for Independents was published in the January issue of Insurance Newsnet.com. ASCI does a lot of work in Succession Planning especially for privately owned companies. New Go Games!
|
Along with the classic Go Game that many of you have had the opportunity to go crazy with, we have added two new variations recently.
The Movie Game,
After watching thousands of
teams create amazing short videos in The Go Game, we realized that players are
a lot more creative than they think. In this game, your group is given the
dream assignment -- make an award-winning short film. We provide just enough
structure to keep the creative process moving at breakneck pace and the results
will blow you away.
The Spy Game follows an
action-packed storyline in which someone (or something) from your company has
been kidnapped! And, yes, we're betting on you and your fearless co-workers to
save the day once again. Video clues are created beforehand and delivered
throughout the game on our BlackBerry Curves. These clues tell the story of a
kidnapping (or data heist) and contain riddles that the teams will unravel to
solve the final mission and rescue. Throughout the game, each team will gather
around the phone and watch these customized video dispatches. Ultimately, all
the teams collaborate on one heroic, final task to rescue your intrepid leader. The
result is high action drama, and we promise, all will end well!
We've also come up with some new very aggressive pricing so lets not let the doom-sayers ruin your fun! Get a quote.
New Corporate Entertainment!
Improv Team Building. Participants will learn to improvise by exploring the same processes and
exercises used by professionals (such as Second City and "Who's Line Is It Anyway?")
to experience the "aha" moments of insight associated with being creative under
pressure.
Participants
will be challenged to take risks, explore their style and "fail forward" - all
while heightening listening skills, communication and having fun.
Participants are broken out into groups of 25,
each group will be lead by a professional Improvisation Facilitator. This is a 1 day or ½ day workshop that includes a 60 minute filmed performance 'competition'
with willing participants hosted by a Professional Improv Troupe (The Extant Jesters) and an edited DVD of the evening's festivities. You can see the Extant Jesters every Monday night at The Comedy Bar in downtown Toronto. |
